  • Carnival Donations 2017

    Following last years very successful Carnival fund raising, thank you to all who donated and took part, the Carnival Committee has made donations of just under £4,500 to the following groups and organisations. 

    Sway Brownies (Towards action adventure day).

    Sway Allotments (Repairs to mower).

    Mollie’s Seat (Towards cost of seat and plaque).

    Sway Tennis Club (Towards replacement notice board).

    Little Sunflowers Playgroup (Towards running costs).

    Sway Village Hall (Towards legal fee costs).

    Sway Scouts (Camping equipment).

    Little Flyers Pre-School (Construction blocks, bricks and tools).

    Sway Over Sixties (Christmas lunch).

    Sway Cricket Club (Towards refurbishment of wooden pavilion).

    Sway Women’s Institute (Time capsule).

    New Forest Disability Information Services (General information and advice).

    St Luke’s Church (New tablecloths).

    Ukuleles Group (For contribution to procession).

    Robin Nursery (Develop outside play area).

    Sway Youth Centre (Planting around Mollie’s bench).

    Sway Football Club (Extend home and away side dugouts).

    Sway Drama Club (Towards new front of house lighting bars).

    Sway Luncheon Club (Second hand wheelchair).

  • Latest Carnival News

    Plans are already underway for this year’s carnival week. The dates have been set - Friday 29th June to Sunday 8th and the theme chosen for this year is ‘Our Favourite Songs’ which we hope will give everyone plenty of scope for ideas for the Carnival procession and make the entries as vibrant and exciting as last year. 

    Many of the old favourites events will be happening throughout the week along with several new events. Details later. 

    The venue for this year’s Fete is unchanged – it will be in the Jubilee Field, but what will change is the entrance fee. We put the price up last year hoping to raise more money for Sway Organisations but many of you felt that the cost was too high, and as a result of listening to you, we have decided that this year there will be no set charge – we will ask for donations. We hope this will be better for all of you whilst still raising money for Sway Organisations.

    Sadly, the Goughs are taking a much-deserved retirement. We are very indebted to them for all their hard work and enthusiasm running the Dog Show at the Fete. They will be sorely missed, but we are hoping that we will be able to find someone else who will run the dog show. Fingers crossed.

     Finally, we are very pleased to welcome four new members to our committee and already they are bringing fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the meetings.
